eResearch Awareness Workshop
An e-Research Awareness Workshop was organised on 13 August 2008. This involved presenters from our IT Services team, the Library, the Centre for Education and Professional Development, the University Research Office and academics. Topics covered included inter-institutional collaboration; virtual research communities; networks, KAREN and the BlueFern; data sharing, preservation, discovery, access and storage. The audience of close to 30 were both academic and allied staff. There was interest in an e-Research community initiative.
What’s Coming Up
The second deliverable is an e-Research Action Plan informed by an institutional audit of e-Research activities and supporting ICT infrastructure at AUT University. This will likely take the form of an online survey with research groups in particular, to identify the principal obstacles and opportunities for e-Research in existing projects with a focus on the further use of KAREN as well as the development of e-Research techniques.
