AgResearch voice traffic over KAREN

The lack of QoS on KAREN was thought to be a potential impediment to its reliable use for carrying voice traffic. We have successfully implemented voice over IP for both VOIP and legacy phone systems and now rely on KAREN to carry all intersite voice traffic.

KAREN and clustered router/firewalls

In order to maximise the reliability of our KAREN connection we have implemented a new feature recently available on Juniper routers to allow the back to back connection of two routers to provide a real-time redundant network connection
