   1. Natural Resources Area Report - mentioned the high quality of the NZ presentations, particularly in agriculture
   2. Application Technology – middleware focussing on identity management and security – talked about the need for trust and collaboration around identity management.
   3. Network Technology – very successful sessions – good attendance – particularly IPv6
3. Committee Reports
   1. NOC – 16 presentations with 85 participations. Can been seen at www.jp.apan.net/meetings/0808-NZ/
   2. Backbone committee: emphasis on Tein 2 and 3
   3. Programme committee – praised NZ for the organisation because it was so much easier for the programme committee. Also thanked to Aarnet for their support.
   4. Event committee – APAN 27 March 2-6 2009 in Taiwan, APAN 28 July 20 -24 in Malaysia, followed by Sydney, Hong Kong and Hawaii together with Techs in Paradise. Need a volunteer for July/August 2011

   1. Report on membership
   2. Financial report – Total revenues: $65,000 (us) expenses: $34,554,
5. Council Meeting Report
   1. Approved Hong Kong as place for incorporation
   2. Will implement incorporation for APAN
   3. Developing a business model for TEIN
   4. Other motions concern location of APAN secretariat, establishment of secretariat and the recruitment of an executive director for APAN secretariat. Decisions are still pending on these 3 motions. Decisions need to be made by the end of the year.

APAN 27 Meeting preparations in Taiwan in Kaohsiung. The hosting is a joint one with High Performance Computing Organisation at the Grand HiLai Hotel. Costs $300us, increasing to $350 after January. Take rapid transit from airport to centre –less than $1. 15 – 20 walk to Hotel or taxi.
