Part One:

  • Video conferencing solution to the desktop Provide staff with e-video conferencing and collaborative tools to their desktops. Liaise with IT to have this as a standard installation feature.30 Nov 08
  • Promote the use of meetings via KAREN and doubling its use.Identify groups around campus where video conferencing can provide a better time/cost solution for meetings that involve travel and provide solutions using KAREN. 30 Apr 09
  • Prototype Online Resource website Co-ordinate and develop an internal online content centre for video conferencing for end users with video tutorials, step by step guides, software installation information.30 Jun 08

Beta version of Online Resource

  • Update online content centre with latest software updates and KAREN network information12 Dec 08
  • Final Online Resource Final version of the online content centre30 Mar 09

Workshops

  • Provide three workshops for all end users on the latest developments, tip and tricks, and best practices for video conferencing over KAREN at the University of Canterbury. Workshops will be held in October 2008, January 2009, and April 2009. Apr 09

Part Two

  • Call for proposals using High Bandwidth computer training 5 opportunities for research groups at Universities, CRIs and the other KAREN members within NZ. Aug 2008
  • Proposal Selection Criteria include research excellence, new HPC users and/or organisations, high bandwidth applications, new and emerging eResearch areas, potential for future expansion of the project and new HPC eResearch software capabilities 30 Jan 09
  • 5 additional research groups with training Train successful research groups in use of KAREN to do their eResearch on the HPC30 Mar 09
  • Exemplar project reports Five reports on eResearch projects undertaken 30 Apr 09 Double KAREN bandwidth usage via HPC 5 exemplar projects and promotion will increase data transfer to the HPC 30 Apr 09
